BBC Plans National Ice Hockey League Cup Final Coverage

BBC Shropshire

BBC Radio Shropshire is to broadcast the final of the NIHL National Cup between its home side Telford Tigers and Peterborough Phantoms.

The station will report live on the first leg from Cambridgeshire on Friday, March 6th, with full commentary on the return match at Telford Ice Rink five days later on Wednesday 11th in a special programme starting at 7 pm.

BBC Radio Shropshire presenter Paul Shuttleworth – who’s also an ice hockey referee and coach – will lead the commentary team with presenter Mark Elliott and the GB women’s captain Saffron Allen summarising.

Paul said “I’m really looking forward to combining my passions for ice hockey and radio. We follow Tigers’ progress all year round, and we absolutely want to be there to celebrate this huge moment with them”.

BBC Radio Shropshire is available on 96FM in Shropshire, worldwide via the BBC Sounds app and at bbc.co.uk/radioshropshire, and across much of the West Midlands on DAB and Freeview channel 721.
