Bloor is Back!

Telford Tigers are delighted to announce the return of net minder Matty Bloor for the 2024/25 season. Bloor returns for his second year with the National League team after impressing as back up to Brad Day last season. 19 year old Bloor was a product of the Nottingham junior set up and previously appeared for the Nottingham Lions before his signing for Telford last year.

Matty commented on his signing for the club, “I’m really happy to be back for my 2nd season, it felt natural to re-sign. The focus this year is to keep building on from last season by having someone to challenge Brad and hopefully steal a few more minutes from him throughout the year. I think I’ve developed a lot playing under Tom so I’m looking forward to carrying that into this season.”

Tom Watkins, Head Coach and General Manager, commented on the signing of Bloor.

“’Bringing Matty back for a second season was always part of the plan. I’m really pleased with the strides Matty took last season, he showed his quality and ability toward the back end of the season, but this is a long term process, it’s not a quick process and not something that will happen overnight, exposing him too quickly could be detrimental. He has a great relationship with Brad, works hard every day at practice, is very coachable and will earn more game time along the way.

Playing in goal is the most important position in hockey, we have two more than capable goalies, with Brad the number one but we know Matty is knocking on the door for more ice time.”
