Telford NIHL 2 Coach Callum Bowley is delighted to welcome on board 18-year-old talented defenceman William Reed for the upcoming season. William is a product of the Solihull junior ice hockey system and last season made the move to Telford where he iced 20 times for Telford under 18’s and 9 times for Telford NIHL 1. He represented Midlands under 17’s and picked up a gold medal in the process.
“It’s good to be back at Telford and I’m excited to be a part of the youth development in the organisation”.
Coach Bowley said “Will is a talented young player that is very committed and works extremely hard in both training and in games, which is exactly the type of players I want in my team. He’s very keen to learn, skates very well and should get more of an opportunity to play this season. I’m pleased he’s back on board and I’m looking forward to helping him reach the next level in the club.”
16-year-old defencemen Daniel Mitchell joins Telford NIHL 2 for his first senior ice hockey season. The 16-year-old was assistant captain for the Telford under 18s and helped Midlands under 17’s pick up a gold medal alongside Will Reed. He posted an impressive 22 points in 20 games for Telford under 18’s as a defenceman and 7 points for Coventry Blaze under 20’s in 15 games.
Dan said “I have been waiting to turn sixteen to be eligible to play for a senior team. I am really pleased that I get this opportunity with my home team Telford NIHL 2 and I am looking forward to the season ahead.”
Callum commented “Dan is another really talented young defenceman that I’m glad will be part of the Tigers NIHL 2 for the upcoming season. He’s super quick, strong, good on the puck and is quite solid in one-on-one situations all over the ice. He still has a lot of areas to work on in his game as he’s only sixteen, but I believe he will do really well for us this season and will continue to develop even further.
