Telford Tigers are pleased to announce that Dougie Wildman will be joining the Club as Tigers 2 Assistant Coach.
Wildman has spent several years playing recreational hockey out of Telford and joins the club with a respectable amount of ice experience, both playing and coaching. In 2018, Wildman was appointed as Head Coach of the newly established recreational team, Shropshire Huskies. This upcoming season will see Tigers 2 Coach Dave Fielder and Wildman work together on the bench both at training sessions and at games.
Tigers 2 coach Dave Fielder is looking forward to having support from Dougie on the bench commenting;
“As soon as I was appointed as Tigers 2 coach, I knew that I would need some support and assistance with a big squad. Mike and Martin have done a great job over the years but now, I need that extra man on training sessions and at games each week.
I had several people approach me and with Dougie’s skills both on and off the ice, I knew that he would be a great addition to the Tigers 2 bench. We’re building a future proof team so building a coaching team also is vital. I’m looking forward to working with Doug this season.”
Wildman is thrilled to be joining the Tigers 2 squad saying;
“I’m very honoured and proud to have been asked to assist Ces with the team. I already know a large amount of the players and I’m looking forward to getting to know the rest. From what I have seen, there is a good group of guests on the roster and I don’t see why they won’t be challenging for silverware this season. I’m excited to get started and will do all and everything I can to help Tigers 2 to success this season!”
Telford Tigers 2 will kick off the season with their pre-season challenge game against Deeside Dragons on Saturday 31stAugust at Telford Ice Rink. Tickets are on sale now for the 19:00 face off!

There is also still the opportunity to become an individual player sponsor for £200. The package will include a personalised ‘SPECIAL’ exclusive third jersey with either a company name or family name patch, announcements on match nights, a small advert or logo in the match night programmes and a signed player photo. The jersey will be worn for cup games and play-off games and will not be available to purchase as a replica.
