EIHA Update: ‘Return to Play’ Phase 3 from August 31st
The English Ice Hockey Association (EIHA) is pleased to announce that the sport in England will move into Phase 3 of the Return to Play protocols from Monday August 31, 2020.
Following the reopening of rinks in England on August 15 the EIHA Board have been planning to move to this next phase only when it is safe to do so.
We are now in a position to begin Phase 3 which will allow whole club/team training with no social distancing on the ice. It will still be necessary to apply distancing measures in and around our venues.
Players from different training groups will now be able to mix, meaning junior players could train with their own age group plus train up to the next age group.
Phase 3 will last for a minimum of two weeks with the level of contact to be phased in by coaches over a period of weeks to allow the players conditioning to adjust.
The Board will continue working with government and other sporting bodies to progress the Return to Play as quickly but as safely as possible. The safety of everyone involved remains our overriding principle in any decision.
The RTP infographics have been updated to reflect the move to Phase 3 and are attached below.
All on the EIHA Board are grateful to the clubs, coaches, managers, parents and players for their support and understanding as we look to bring the sport back from its unprecedented pause.

The EIHA’s update on phase 3 of return to play will go ahead as planned on 31st August subject to no further Government restrictions or lockdowns. Telford Tigers will continue to provide updates regarding the upcoming season once details have been confirmed by EIHA.
