Fourth season at Tigers for Anderton

Brandon Anderton

More exciting news in the Telford Tigers camp as the Club are pleased to announce the return of forward, Brandon Anderton to the Telford Tigers 2 roster.

The 23-year-old has been playing hockey since 2013 though, this hasn’t stopped him making his mark across the Midlands based clubs. Kicking off his playing career in Solihull, Anderton played through the junior system appearing on the roster for the Solihull Knights U16 team, the Solihull Barons U18 team and the Solihull Barons U20 team. Anderton has also played in the Barons’ senior squad whilst also making a brief appearance in the NIHL North 2 side, Coventry Blaze NIHL in 2016/17.

It was the following season where Anderton pulled his first Tigers jersey. Quickly settling into the team, the forward racked up a respectful 28 points in 33 games, earnt regular ice time and became a reliable, hardworking player.

Brandon has been a key component in the Tigers 2 set up for the past three seasons. A key moment for the forward was when he manged to bag his first play-off goal in the semi-final game against Hull Jets during the 2018/19 season… A result which unfortunately didn’t go Tigers’ way.

Anderton quickly bounced back the following season, leaving his mark on the ice and on the stats board… Bagging himself 32 points in 24 games, meant that he also bagged the top spot for the most points scored during the season across the whole squad.

Telford Tigers 2 coaching team Scott McKenzie and Doug Wildman are delighted to have signed Brandon for the upcoming season commenting:

“Brandon is another player that works extremely hard for his team. A player that is probably underestimated by opposition but is a huge asset to the Tigers. We need Brandon to maintain his high work ethic but also work a bit smarter and put himself in better situations to allow him to be more successful. Another young guy that is full of potential.”

Brandon is looking forward to returning to Telford Tigers commenting;

“Feels great to be signing back at Telford for the 2020/21 season and I would like to thank the team for taking me back once again.

Last year wasn’t our greatest year, but I’d be lying if I said good things didn’t come out of it, such as building chemistry with different players like Ben Washburn, Jordan Jolly, Filip Supa and Oli Hunt.

I’m hoping once we can get around the COVID-19 situation we can get this new train rolling to try and win every trophy available with our new coach Scott McKenzie and Dougie, who’s made it clear that nothing is out of our reach but a lot of work to come first.

Like to thank Dave (Ces) as he was last year’s coach, I bet the job wasn’t easy and I wish him the best, hope to still see him around in his shop once or twice a week.”

Telford Tigers would like to thank Three Maintenance Services Ltd for agreeing to be Brandon’s personal sponsor for the forthcoming season.

Brandon’s own and loan shirts are available to order now for £75 each (Home and Away). Please see the Tigers’ Online Shop for details.
