The James Lu Award, formerly known as the Chairman’s Award, was rebranded in 2022 in memory of the club’s cherished friend, James Lu, who tragically passed away that year.
James was a beloved member of the community, known for his passion, dedication, and selflessness. The award continues to honor individuals who exemplify these values, celebrating their outstanding contributions to the club and its wider community, just as James did throughout his life. This special accolade now serves as a lasting tribute to his legacy.
The winner of this award has shown remarkable dedication, investing countless hours behind the scenes to support the club. He is completely selfless, always putting the team first, and truly irreplaceable. His foresight and commitment have been crucial to the existence of the Telford Tigers.
This individual has been through the highs and lows, remaining a constant figure at the club since before Tom Watkins arrived as an 18-year-old. He was instrumental in transforming the Tigers from an amateur setup to a fully professional team overnight in his role as the equipment manager, setting a high standard and continuing to excel in his position.
The club is incredibly fortunate to have his expertise and dedication. Ladies and gentlemen, the James Lu Award goes to Andy Phillips.
