Laidler Cup: Telford Tigers 2 to face Bradford Bulldogs. Following this weekend’s results, the NIHL Laidler Cup semi-finalists are now confirmed.
Last weekend, Hexagon Telford Tigers 2 firmly booked their place in the Laidler Cup semi-final after a 4-3 victory away in Coventry, taking the top spot as Cup [Midlands] group winners.
This weekend, Hull Jets managed to cling onto the top spot of the North group despite an away defeat to Bradford Bulldogs. Their second fixture of the weekend completed the group stages of the Laidler Cup and also confirmed Hull’s first place spot in the North Group on 10 points. The final standings for each group are as follows;
Midlands Group
1st – Telford Tigers 2
2nd – Sutton Sting
3rd – Coventry Blaze
4th – Nottingham Lions 2
North Group
1st – Hull Jets
2nd – Bradford Bulldogs
3rd – Sheffield Titans
4th – Altrincham Aces
The Cup competition for the North 2 league included one home game and one away game in the group qualifying stage with the league being split into two regional groups, North and Midlands. The top two sides of each group will then face a two-legged semi-final in December in the format North 1 v Midlands 2, Midlands 1 v North 2.
Following the outlined format, the proposed semi-final fixtures will be as follows;
SF1 – Telford Tigers vs Bradford Bulldogs
SF2 – Hull Jets vs Sutton Sting
We will soon be announcing the fixture date and ticket details for the semi-final home fixture of Telford Tigers 2 vs Bradford Bulldogs which is expected to take place during a weekend ahead of Christmas.
The 2021/22 Laidler Cup Final will take place in mid-January 2022 and will be played over two legs, one home and one away fixture. Details on these fixtures will be released following the results of the semi-finals.
