The wait is over and we can now officially reveal the two team names that will go head-to-head in our highly anticipated Legends Game!
Two iconic sides, inspired by the local area and its history, will take to the ice as the Wrekin Giants and Ironbridge Ice.
We’re also delighted to confirm that club legends Jason Silverthorn and Scott McKenzie will captain the teams on the night with Jason Silverthorn leading the orange-clad Wrekin Giants and Scott McKenzie captaining Ironbridge Ice.
The Wrekin Giants take inspiration from one of the region’s most recognisable landmarks, The Wrekin. Steeped in local folklore, the legendary tale of the Wrekin Giant tells of a giant who, angered by the people of Shrewsbury, carried a sack of earth to bury the town only to be tricked into dropping it, forming the hill we know today. It’s a story that has become part of the area’s identity, symbolising strength, presence, and a larger-than-life character. The Wrekin Giants will take to the ice in a bold orange strip, a design that reflects energy, passion, and the fiery spirit of the club’s history.
Their opponents, Ironbridge Ice, draw inspiration from the historic Ironbridge Gorge, widely recognised as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and one of the region’s most celebrated landmarks.Symbolising innovation, resilience, and legacy, Ironbridge Ice reflects the foundations of the area and the lasting impact it has had on history — much like the players who will represent the team on the night. They’ll hit the ice in a crisp white strip, showcasing a clean and classic design synonymous with the sport.
Jerseys & Auction Details
As part of today’s announcement, fans can also get their first look at the official Legends Game jersey designs, bringing both identities to life ahead of the big night. The game-worn jerseys will be available to purchase via auction, which will go live from 6pm today.
The auction will also include a full list of players taking part, giving supporters an early look at the legends set to feature and the chance to secure a unique piece of Tigers history.
