McKinney Makes Tigers Return! Telford Tigers are delighted to announce the return of fan favourite Andy McKinney for the 2021/22 season. McKinney was a key part of the team during the 2019/20 NIHL League and Cup double-winning team scoring 37 points. McKinney will continue to wear the number 91 shirt and returns for his sixth season with Telford.
McKinney stated, “Thanks for having me! Come September it will be 18 months since I last pulled on that Tigers Jersey. I’m really looking forward to being with this group of players again and building on our success from the 2019-20 season. Above all, I’m looking forward to reigniting my passion for the game and spending some great times with the lads of course.”
Tom Watkins, Head Coach and General Manager, said, “I’m very pleased Andy is back with the club, we missed his presence during the Spring Cup. He’s a fan favourite and it’s easy to see why. He plays with a lot of heart, wears his heart on his sleeve and plays that hard nose, high energy style that is not only appreciated by fans but also his teammates and coaching staff. He’s the type of player that every team wants and needs. For me he is the best in the league in this role, but not to pigeon hole him at all he’s got a lot of skills that contribute to his game. He plays hard, plays with commitment and a lot of passion. He is a strong skater with good quickness and through his skating ability challenges the opposition on and off the puck. He’s extremely capable of putting the puck in the net and I expect him to be a 20 plus goal scorer for us. He’s not just capable of scoring but chips in with big goals, goals that really change the momentum of the game and get the guys going. I’m delighted he’s committed for the new season.”

In the 2021/22 season, Tigers are again offering individual player sponsorship at £400. The package will include a personalised ‘SPECIAL’ exclusive third jersey with a company name or family name patch, announcements on match nights, a small advert or logo in the match night programmes and a signed player photo. The jersey will be worn for cup games and play-off games and will not be available as a replica.
