As we all enter the festive period and the near midpoint of the season, we wanted to take this opportunity to provide you with a quick update and wish all of you a Merry Christmas.
The teams on the ice are both progressing well, with the Tigers 1 team currently sitting in third place, 3 points off first place after 15 games played, albeit with a game in hand, and without tempting fate we will hopefully qualify to the quarter finals of the National Cup after a recent important win at home against the Swindon Wildcats, leaving us again in second place in the group with the top two teams qualifying for the next stage.
The Tigers 2 team recently enjoyed two excellent 4 point weekend keeping them in touch of qualifying for the end of season playoffs, which would be a fantastic achievement for all.
We would like to say a very big thank you to all the Match Night Volunteers for both the Tigers 1 & 2 Teams who go above and beyond every weekend giving up their time to support the club. With the help of our club volunteers we are able to run hockey games every week and we have also been able to hold three fan events to date with a Quiz Night, Race Night and also the Tigers Cricket Day making a welcome return to our Calendar. This is a great day held at St George’s Cricket Club and I can highly recommend it as an excellent team building exercise for any business.
As a club we chose to support Help For Heroes as our chosen charity for the 2017/18 season. Our Cash & Carry Tyres sponsored Warm Up shirts display the Help For Heroes logo with fundraising events held through the year going to the this fantastic cause. Recently we also held the annual Tigers Teddy Bear Toss at home against the Blackburn Hawks for Tigers 2 and against Nottingham Lions for Tigers 1. Another “massive success” with nearly 300 teddies being launched onto the ice when the Tigers first goal was scored. All donated teddies were distributed at the PRH Children’s Ward.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and Best wishes for a prosperous 2018.
