New face for Tigers 2: Jord Holmes steps up! Telford Tigers are pleased to announce the signing of Jord Holmes to the Tigers 2 roster ahead of the new season.
Jord is a familiar face in Telford having played for recreational side Shropshire Huskies for four seasons. Stats in previous seasons for Jord has seen him as a contributor to the team, including picking up 12 points in 8 games for Huskies in the 2021/22 season.
The upcoming season will be Jord’s debut season wearing a Tigers jersey, making the step up from recreational hockey.
We spoke to Jord ahead of him joining the Tigers 2 roster.
This will be your first season with the Tigers organisation, what made you decide to join the club?
“Joining the Telford organisation was always something I aimed to achieve when I started playing hockey and after talking with Scott this off season he gave me a chance and I couldn’t say no.”
For those fans that haven’t seen you play before, how would you describe your game?
“I would describe my game as physical & hard working. I enjoy doing the nitty gritty things that other players might not like doing.”
How do you think your skills and abilities can contribute to the team’s success this season?
“I’m hoping my hard work and gritty style can help my teammates be able to uses their attributes more often and help us win games.”
What excites you the most about this new opportunity and the prospect of playing in the NIHL?
“The opportunity of playing at this higher level for me is an exciting one. Playing week in week out with a great bunch of guys is what I’m looking forward to the most.”
Have you set any specific personal performance goals for your first season? If so, what are they?
“I’ve tried not to set any personal goals for this season. I’m a team first kind of guy and as-long as I’m contributing and giving 100% week in week out to help this team win things then it will be a successful season for me.”
Are there any particular games or opponents you’re looking forward to facing in your debut season?
“All of them. Each team in this league will be a different challenge so trying to adapt and overcome each of these challenges is an exciting prospect.”
Lastly, what message would you like to send to your family, friends, and supporters who have been with you on this journey so far?
“I’d like to thank all my friends and family for their continued support to help get me here.
Especially my wife who will be taking on the burden of travelling the country with my son for his hockey games.
And to the fans I’m really looking forward to getting this season going and seeing and hearing you all at the rink this season. #UPTHETIGS”

In the 2023/24 season, Tigers are again offering individual player sponsorship at £500. The package will include a personalised ‘SPECIAL’ exclusive third jersey with a company name or family name patch, announcements on match nights, a small advert or logo in the match night programmes and a signed player photo. The jersey will be worn for cup games and play-off games and will not be available as a replica.
