The Telford Tigers are thrilled to announce that Oli Hunt will once again lead Tigers 2 as team captain for the upcoming 2025/26 season. The upcoming season marks Hunt’s sixth in a Tigers jersey and his fourth as captain, solidifying his position as a cornerstone of the squad.
Hunt first took the armband ahead of the 2021/22 season, quickly establishing himself as a natural leader both on and off the ice. Fans will once again see him proudly wearing the iconic “C” on his jersey whilst also donning the familiar number 53.
Reflecting on the return, Hunt shared;
“Super excited to be back representing the Tigers for another year as we all embark on a new challenge in North 1.Last season proved to be a pivotal moment for this club and as a team we have showed dominance year after year, now is the time for everyone to step up and prove ourselves in a more competitive field.
With the depth of experience and exciting young talent we have in this team I know that we will be challenging for silverware straight away.
Since I spoke with Jason a few weeks ago I have been really inspired with what our ethos and goals are as a team and being asked to remain on as Captain is something I’m very proud of. We’re all looking forward to seeing you all in September and we can’t wait to get started.”
Jason Silverthorn, Head Coach for Tigers 2, commented on the signing of Hunt.
“It was an easy decision to bring back Oli and make him captain again! He’s been the leader of this group both on and off the ice for a few years now and he is a quality person. He has a big impact on the offensive side of the puck and having played at this level in the past, it gives us another player with that playing experience. I’m looking for Oli to continue to lead by example, playing both ends of the ice, and continuing to grow as a Captain in this new set up!”
