Tigers NIHL 2 have secured the services of 32-year-old Louis Edwards and 18 year old Ted Thompson. Louis was part of the Telford Tigers NIHL set up last season and is extremely pleased to be back on board, saying “I was delighted to be selected to be a part of the team this year in preparation for the 17/18 season. I am pleased to be a part of the Telford organisation of which I became a part of last season. We have a great team structure both on and off the ice and I am looking forward to giving my all for myself, my team and proving what we can achieve collectively as an organisation. I’m ready for the season ahead.”
Callum Bowley, Head Coach Telford Tigers 2 said “I’m delighted Louis has agreed to come back for another season. He’s a player that gives 100% commitment every training session and every game, and he is very much a team-first guy. He has a great opportunity this season to showcase what he can do and I have no doubt that him and Ted will form a strong goalie partnership and push each other for that starting spot.”
Tigers NIHL 2 have also added 18-year-old netminder Ted Thompson to the roster for the upcoming season. Ted was called up to the Telford Tigers EPL team last season, where he backed up two games and got a taste for professional ice hockey in Telford. He has progressed through the Telford junior system and epitomises what this club is trying to achieve – developing players through the system. Ted stated “I’m pretty excited to be playing for Telford this year as I’m making that step up from under 18’s and I’m still able to play for my home town which is always what I’ve aimed to do after juniors. From what I’ve heard, it sounds like it’s going to be a really good season with a strong group of players”.
Coach Bowley stated “I’m pleased Ted will be spending his first full senior season as a Telford Tigers 2 player, as he’s a gifted young netminder who’s hungry to progress through the system. He’s got a really good attitude, he’s willing to learn and is more than capable of delivering solid performances. He will get a really good opportunity with us next season and I’m looking forward to working with both him and Louis to take their games to the next level.
