Rhodes Mitchell-King Returns for Fifth Season with Telford Tigers

Mitchell-King will once again pull on a Tigers jersey after establishing himself as one of the most dependable defencemen in the league over the past four seasons.

A commanding presence on the blue line, the 23-year-old has become a key figure in Tom Watkins’ side, regularly matching up against the opposition’s top forwards while playing significant minutes in all situations.

Last season, Mitchell-King’s campaign was unfortunately cut short through injury, with his absence keenly felt during the closing stages of the season. His return provides a major boost to the Tigers’ defensive unit as preparations continue for the new season.

Head Coach Tom Watkins believes securing Mitchell-King’s return is an important piece of the puzzle heading into the new season.

“This is great news for the players and fans connected with the club. He has been a tremendous asset for us over the last few seasons.

He has led from the front every night, he competes hard, logs a lot of minutes against the top players in the league, and really is a guy that we lean on heavily in those key moments. He’s been a huge part of the success of our power play, and we ultimately missed him at the end of last season due to his injury. I’m delighted he is back which strengthens our D core.”

Mitchell-King is equally excited to be returning for another season in Telford and is eager to slot back into the group.

“After an unfortunate end to last year, I’m looking forward to being back in the jungle for my fifth season. We’ve got a good group of guys in the room and on the bench, and the fans are always fantastic, so if they stay loud and proud, hopefully we can bring them some silverware.”

Everyone at Telford Tigers is delighted to welcome Rhodes back to the club and looks forward to seeing him back on the ice for the 2026/27 season.

Details regarding Own & Loan jerseys will be announced soon.
