Smith Seals Return.

Telford Tigers are pleased to announce the return of forward James Smith for the 2024/25 season. Smith started last season with the Laidler Division team before moving up to the National League team in November. James will start his ninth full year at the club with his only spell away from Telford since he first represented the team being the 2021/22 season when he played for Solihull Barons. Smith contributed 19 points last season scoring 6 goals.

James commented on his signing for the club, “I’m happy to be returning for a full season and can’t wait to get going again! We finished the season very strong last year and I am keen to get back on the ice in the Tigers shirt again. Tom has put together a strong squad and we are aiming to be competing for all the trophies.”

Tom Watkins, Head Coach and General Manager, commented on the signing of Smith:

“’James brings a lot of attributes to the team, he is a very capable player who can play a variety of roles, either in your top 6 or bottom 6, he is comfortable in either. He is reliable on the puck, manages the puck well and plays with limited risk. Offensively he can chip in with good numbers, he can score, create opportunities and contributes to the success of the power play. He has a very good blend of experience and understanding, mixing a heavy gritty game with a good level of skill.”
