Summer Camp 2017

Hockey Camps

Why not come and join Tom Watkins, Assistant GB, Gold Medal Winning coach for a weeks intense hockey training. Budding ice hockey stars can learn from Tom and his team of coaches at the Telford Tigers ice hockey camps this summer.

The Telford Tigers have launched a week-long camp from August 21st, alongside a series of two-day weekend camps in June and July.

Watkins, who is also head coach of Telford Tigers, will be at the helm of each camp, alongside experienced players from across the country.  He said: “These camps will be an excellent opportunity to gain additional ice time in a fun, focused and competitive environment.  It’s a chance to focus on specific individual and fundamental game situation skills.  Every session will have a focused theme, and we will endeavour to instil the correct techniques for every player. We will utilise the ice time, to maximise the development opportunities, which will give very player a head start for the new season. The date of the summer camp is a great opportunity to hit the ground running, ahead of the new season.  These camps will give players the opportunity to experience different coaches, meet new people and make life-long friends in the game.”

The week-long camp, which runs from August 21st to 25th, will include just under three hours of ice time per day, off-ice training, classroom sessions and a camp shirt.

The costs will be £250 per player, with Telford Juniors and siblings paying just £230.

Watkins added: “The week-long camp has been a firm fixture of our calendar for a few years now and gets more popular every year.  I always look forward to getting the season started on the ice, with youngsters who are keen to learn their trade.”

Additionally weekend camps will take place in June and July,  each weekend camp will include coaching from top British players, four hours of ice time and classroom sessions.

The cost will be £80 per camp, or just £140 for two camps.

“The weekend camps will be a great way to put into practice lots of new techniques,” Watkins said.  “They offer the opportunity to try brand new ideas and develop players’ skills in a competitive environment.  These are a new venture for us, but I am sure with a hard-working attitude, students will get the most out of the weekend sessions.”
