Telford Tigers have bolstered their coaching and support staff for the club’s National side ahead of the upcoming season, announcing an expanded team designed to enhance both player performance and overall team dynamics. Club Head Coach Tom Watkins, alongside Club Assistant Coach Jason Silverthorn, will be supported by a group of returning professionals.
National Assistant Coaches Karl Creamer and Barry Hollyhead
Telford Tigers are proud to welcome back Karl Creamer and Barry Hollyhead as National Assistant Coaches. Karl and Barry are a very important part of the Tigers team, both are former Tigers players, have been on the coaching team for considerable number of seasons and played a huge part in the success of the club over a sustained period.
Tom Watkins commented on the duo’s return;
“Both Karl and Barry are very loyal to the club and provide me with the support I have required on and off the ice. Together with Jason Silverthorn I don’t think you will find a more experienced and knowledgeable coaching staff in the league.”
Support Staff: Key Roles to Enhance Team Performance
In addition to the newly announced coaching structure Telford Tigers have retained a solid group of bench support staff.
Andy Phillips as Equipment Manager
Andy will continue in his role as Equipment Manger, being responsible for ensuring that all equipment needs are met, allowing players to focus on their performance on the ice.
“Andy has been part of the furniture of the Tigers and instrumental in the return of the club to hockey at this level.” says Watkins.
“He has put more years into the Telford Tigers Hockey Club than anyone else that I’m aware and I applaud his dedication and commitment to the players, the team and the club.”
Tom Collins as Physio & Off-Ice Support
Tom Collins will once again oversee player health and recovery, providing crucial physiotherapy services and off-ice support to maintain peak physical condition.
Richard Mothersdale as Team Manager
Richard Mothersdale will continue into his second season as National Team Manager, handling the day-to-day administrative and logistical aspects of the team, ensuring smooth operations and allowing the coaching staff to concentrate on their strategic roles.
Tom Watkins, Club Head Coach, expressed his confidence in the final additions to his National team setup.
“Having Tom,and Richard back on board is a huge boost for us. The integration of this extended support staff means that we can provide our players with the best possible resources, both on and off the ice.
From tactical insights to physical health, and equipment management to administrative efficiency, this team covers all the bases. I’m excited to see the positive impact they’ll have as we prepare for the new season.”
The Telford Tigers are set to begin their pre-season training next month, with the new coaching structure and support staff ready to play pivotal roles in the club’s pursuit of excellence.
