Telford Tigers Elite Status Confirmed

Telford Tigers are delighted to confirm that the Club have now been added to the approved EIHA Elite category under the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) guidelines.

The newly approved Elite status would allow the NIHL National team to train as normal within the team bubble. Other Clubs who also have confirmed Elite classifications include Swindon Wildcats, Milton Keynes Lightning and Sheffield Steeldogs.

This news comes as a huge progression step forward for the Club and would not have been achievable without the help of certain individuals. Telford Tigers are also pleased to share the details of the newly appointed Covid-19 Committee.

Club Medical Officer – Dr Steph Chalmers

Club Covid-19 Officer – Chris Morgan, supported by Angelene Evans

Venue Covid-19 Officer – Matt Newens

The three newly appointed members will join the Club’s Covid-19 Committee which is also made up by support officers Tom Watkins, Ian Howles and Katie Edwards. The Committee members will now use the granted Elite status to plan a safe and secure return to play, in accordance with Government guidance.

In light of the the latest Government announcement, leisure facilities such as ice rinks will continue to be closed until Wednesday 2nd December at the earliest. These restrictions which are currently in place are applicable to Telford Ice Rink and while Telford Tigers now have confirmed Elite status, there are no immediate plans for Telford Tigers to get back onto the ice.

The Club will continue to provide progress updates where possible but for now, we hope that everyone is continuing to stay safe and well and we thank everyone for their continued support after what has been a very challenging time for us all.

Telford Tigers would also like to take this opportunity to wish Sheffield Steeldogs, Swindon Wildcats and Milton Keynes Lightning the best of luck in the streaming series events. More details on these fixtures including stream tickets can be found here.
