Telford Tigers are pleased to announce the return of Lucas Price for the 2023/24 season. Lucas, returns for his second season with the senior team after impressing last year in his first full season at National League level. The young forward scored 8 goals and 12 points last season and will continue to wear the number 10 shirt.
We spoke to Lucas about his return to the team:
Last season was your first full season at National League level. How did you feel it went?
“I felt it went well and I feel I improved as the season went on as I began to gain more and more confidence. I didn’t want the season to end!”
What was your favourite moment from last season?
“It would have to be the moment the final buzzer went in the quarter finals when we beat Milton Keynes to make it to Coventry. It was such a close game that is was a relief to get the win.”
How tough was it to play when the team were struggling and went on that long spell without a win?
“It was more frustrating than anything as we knew we had everything to be a winning team and it just seemed like nothing in that time was going our way. Every bounce seemed to go against us and nothing went our way at all.”
What improvements do you think you need to make for next season?
“I think just working hard off the ice making sure I’m fit and that I am getting stronger and faster. I want to go into the season as ready as I can be and hit the ground running.”
What’s it been like playing in the same team as your brother?
“Its something I’ve always thought about since I was a kid and wasn’t sure I’d ever get the chance to, but it’s fun playing with him every week and definitely an experience I’m grateful for and will always remember.”
What are your goals / ambitions for next season?
“Next year, I’d like to hopefully produce more offense and score a few more goals, but more importantly make sure I’m reliable defensively and hopefully take on more responsibility on the penalty kill. It’s an area of my game I want to work on.”
Do you have a message for the fans ahead of the season?
“Your continued support last season was truly appreciated by all the players and I hope you all are as excited for next season as I am. See you in September!”
Head Coach Tom Watkins commented on Price’s return, “What a talent young Lucas Price is, a player that improved immensely throughout the season, who found a spot playing in our top nine forwards and with that we saw what Lucas brings to the team. You all see the grit, the tenacity, the in your face style but he is also extremely talented, very smart, understands the game very well, he gets the systems, positioning and I only see him getting better and better. He will be working extremely hard over the summer to improve his strength and conditioning which will undoubtedly aid his progression. I’m very excited to see what Lucas can do next season.”

In the 2023/24 season, Tigers are again offering individual player sponsorship at £500. The package will include a personalised ‘SPECIAL’ exclusive third jersey with a company name or family name patch, announcements on match nights, a small advert or logo in the match night programmes and a signed player photo. The jersey will be worn for cup games and play-off games and will not be available as a replica.
