Schools

The Tigers are very much involved in local schools, primarily through the Learn to Play programme. Head Coach Tom Watkins, along with Tigers players, visit schools in Telford, and beyond, on a regular basis. Starting with assemblies during school hours, they then progress in school PE lessons to after-school clubs, where children are shown the basic skills of ice hockey.

The intention of the Tigers Schools Programme is to show pupils how ice hockey can bring huge health and social benefits, as well as teamwork. Once youngsters show an interest in the game, they are then invited to the club’s Learn to Play sessions on Tuesday evenings.

Community

We’re more than just an ice hockey Club, we’re a Community. Telford Tigers take part in several events which benefit the local community. The Club’s biggest Community event is the Annual Teddy Toss which sees hundreds of soft toys and teddy bears donated to children in local Hospitals and Hospices ahead of Christmas.

The Club has also supported players with their own Charity events and fundraising efforts.

Telford Tigers also get involved in all the local fêtes and fairs in the local community such as Shropshire Kids Festival and Shrewsbury Food Festival.

Partnerships

Telford Tigers have formed some great partnerships with local businesses, sports Clubs and also Education providers. Each partnership is unique and provides support and benefits for both parties.

The Club’s interactive goal has had an appearance at several events such as University of Wolverhampton’s Freshers Fayre and the TCAT (Telford College) freshers event.

As much as we love ice hockey, we also love football and motorcycle speedway! Telford Tigers regularly attend and take part in the Walsall FC family games as well as getting down and dirty trackside at Wolves Speedway!

Telford Tigers are also very fortunate to have formed a partnership with Nuffield Health at Shrewsbury Hospital. The partnership offers a host of opportunities, benefits and services for the Club and our players.
