Telford Tigers are delighted to announce the signing of Canadian import defender Caelan McPhee for the 2025/26 season. The 25 year old, who was born in Ancaster Ontario, completes the line up of import players allowed under the National League rules for next season. McPhee joins Tigers from the Saint Mary’s University team in the Canadian Usports league and will add strength to Tigers’ defensive core. Caelan will wear the number 4 shirt in the forthcoming season.
Caelan commented on his signing for the club, “I’m really excited to be joining Telford Tigers as I’ve heard nothing but great things about the organisation. It’s a well respected club with a strong tradition of success and this a great opportunity for me to test my skills in a different league. I’m looking forward to contributing both on and off the ice to help the team be successful. I can’t wait to hit the ice in September.”
Tom Watkins, Head Coach and General Manager, commented on the signing of McPhee.
“Caelan joins us after five seasons with Saint Mary’s University, who have a strong hockey programme. He is a very solid mobile skater, very good puck handler, and is happy to be physical in the way he plays, he’s a very gritty individual.
From the conversations I have had with his previous coaches, I don’t think there is anyone he wouldn’t fight if needed. I know he has lots of experience on the power play, at university he was a go to guy on the penalty kill and was used a lot in shut down situations, so he is very capable of playing on both sides of the puck. All reports I have had on him are very similar, he will meet whatever expectations you have and most likely exceed them. He is a talented player and a person who is very well respected on and off the ice by his teammates and coaches alike.”
