Tigers Sign Ryan on Short Term Leese!

Telford Tigers are pleased to announce the return of young defender Ryan Leese for the 2024/25 season. The 17 year old stepped up from junior hockey last season and was a revelation at the back for Tigers playing 42 games throughout the season, despite being still eligible for the U18 team.

Ryan commented on his return to the club, “’I’m extremely excited and honoured to have signed for another year at the Tigers, I was very grateful for the trust and support from my teammates, coaches and the fans in my first season in senior hockey. I hope we can achieve big things this year and bring home some silverware; I’m excited for what this season brings to us all.”

Tom Watkins, Head Coach and General Manager, commented on the signing of Leese, “What an impact Ryan made in his first season, difficult to remember he was just 16 years old stepping in and showing excellent composure, poise under heavy forecheck pressure and was able to make a good first pass and help our transition. He was averaging 11 minutes a night on the ice and will look to propel him to about 15 minutes a night next season. He finished his first season in senior hockey with a very positive and respectable plus 2 rating. Last season was a solid introduction to this level but we expect that development to continue further. Ryan will be working hard through the summer to improve his strength and conditioning which is a key part of his progression going into the new season.”
